🟫 What we do
The Australian Kookaburra Kids Foundation is a non-profit organisation that provides free camps, activity days and online connect sessions to young people aged 8 to 18 impacted by family mental illness across Australia.
Our programs mix early intervention mental health education with fun, taking away stigmas and creating connections between young people in similar situations.
Our programs are run by qualified staff, mental health clinicians, and volunteers who have a Working with Children Check and National Police Check.
🟪 Our commitment
At the Australian Kookaburra Kids Foundation, we have a strong commitment to creating positive mental health outcomes for young people to help them thrive beyond the impacts of family mental illness.
🟦 Core Kids Programs
This pre-early intervention program provides clinically designed camps and activity days to all young people 8-18 from a family impacted by family mental health challenges.
🟩 Young Carers Program
Delivered in partnership with Wellways Australia and funded by the Carer Gateway, the Young Carers Program supports young people aged 8–18 who provide emotional or practical care to family member with mental illness. Through fun activity days and camps, young carers gain respite, connect with peers, build resilience, and learn tools to better cope with their family’s challenges.
🟨 Defence Kids Programs
The Department of Veterans’ Affairs is funding this program, providing camps, activity days and mental health education focusing on coping skills and resilience to young people from serving and ex-serving ADF families.
