Supporting young people through guided Dungeons & Dragons sessions!
Here at Beyond Gaming we endeavour to support young people through guided Dungeons & Dragons sessions here in Cairns.
We facilitate and host dungeons & dragons sessions for people looking to learn how to play D&D, who are interested in role-playing games, who would like to practice social skills in a safe and supported environment, or who are just looking to connect with other like-minded people.
There are several ways in which playing D&D (Dungeons & Dragons) can be beneficial to one's well-being:
Social Interaction
Creativity and Imagination
Stress Relief
Self-Expression
Overall, playing D&D can provide a fun, engaging, and rewarding experience that can have positive effects on one's well-being!

Social Support Online offers Australia-wide, online social support, using co-operation based games and activities to build meaningful relationships and accomplish NDIS developmental goals. With an experienced support worker, participants will enjoy games that prioritise teamwork, effective communication, problem solving and social development, working towards group sessions with matched participants in the SSO community.
The service is for anyone across Australia aged 6+ (including adults), and is particularly suited to people living in regional and remote areas who have limited access to social opportunities and services.
“My son (ADHD + Autism) has been supported by Hamish for the past 2 years and we couldn’t be happier. I have seen a positive change in his approach to others and situations that use to result in a meltdown or a physical response. The service provided by SSO is relevant and effective for my son as it is based online, and uses gaming as a tool to teach and develop social skills, communication, appropriate behaviour and anger management through group sessions and also one on one sessions.”
Some of the common NDIS goals or developmental needs our service helps with:
Developing communication skills
Maintaining positive relationships
Emotional regulation
Engaging in a community
Improving age appropriate social skills
De-escalation and anger management
