Learn to express yourself creatively and enjoy an improved sense of wellbeing.
Art Dojo provides a 10-week program for NDIS recipients who are plan and/or self managed.
The program supports you to build social and emotional skills through personal creativity in a group setting.
Through the process of art creation we can explore and understand emotions and reactions, and so build self-understanding and confidence.
Art Dojo classes provide opportunity to expand art education using example artworks as inspiration, and exploring various artistic mediums and techniques.
You don't need to be able to draw or paint to join a program. Art Dojo is about reigniting the childhood enjoyment of creating from within.
Classes include demonstrations, discussion and guidance. I encourage free-play art creation and can assist you to unlock your creativity.
Activities may include drawing, painting, colouring, collage, and modelling clay sculpture.
Venues are suitable for wheelchair access and activities can be adjusted to suit specific needs.

Disability Matters has been working actively in the Tablelands community to provide help and understanding with quality disability support care since 1990. Formed in response to community need, the organisation was originally known as Tableland Respite Care Association. The name was changed in May 2016 to better communicate what the organisation is all about: Disability Matters to us.
Disability Matters offers disability support services to the Tablelands region and also an extended catchment area from Cardwell to Cape York.
Support coordination - Plan Management - Housing and accommodation
The Disability Matters Support Coordinator will enable an individual to build their capacity (and that of their networks) with the aim of independently managing their issues and supports whilst meeting their goals and exercising choice in obtaining supports that assist them in pursuing their own lifestyles
Disability Matters Support Accommodation
For those times when everyone just needs a break, we provide 24-hour support in accommodation at our Cook St house in Atherton. The house provides overnight care, 7 days per week. With up to four clients able to stay at a time, the house has built up a reputation of being a caring, supportive and enjoyable “home away from home” for people living with a disability.
Clients are encouraged and supported to participate in a variety of activities whilst at Cook Street, both indoors and outdoors. Some activities we offer at Cook Street include:
• Access to a sensory room
• Music sessions
• Craft sessions
• Fun days with BBQ’s and games
• Outings into the community and local attractions including Tinaroo Dam, Lake Eacham, local parks and whatever other activities or events are being held
Younger clients at the home often feel they have gained some independence away from their families whilst their parents have peace of mind knowing that their child is being appropriately supported.
Our support at Cook Street is based on a 1 support worker to 2 clients (1:2) ratio, however, we have the ability to scale down to 1:4 or up to 1:1.

Parents and carers are involved in understanding the potential value of these strategies and we support them to be incorporated within the home setting. Calmer children, calmer parents! Ahh!
We consider this helps the child/ren to generalise the skills and support proactive self care at home. Many parents and carers really enjoy the relaxation techniques too!

Servicing Northern beaches and Cairns to Gordonvale
Konnect Em Services Pty Ltd., we are a registered NDIS service provider, based in Cairns. I am excited to embark on this new journey. Although new, I have a strong team of dedicated and experienced workers who have been in the industry for quite some time who share the same passion as I.
My background is in child protection and behaviour support practice in NDIS. I have a Master’s in Social Work, Graduate Certificate in Human Services Management, and a Bachelor’s in Business – HRM.
I am originally from Papua New Guinea (PNG) and have been in cairns for the past 23 years.
In saying this, I’m proud to say that majority of my team are from PNG and are hard workers and are passionate about the helping and caring work and services they provide. They believe that it’s important to connect with the participant and truly deliver work from the heart in a consensus and collective way.
Our motto that describes the guiding principles of the company, derives from the ‘Motu’ language of Papua New Guinea; Bahetura, Baheduru, Bahavaraia.
Bahetura means ‘relationship’ – We believe it is vital to have a good relationship with the people we support. Having good relationships creates respectful friendship and connections that help to inspire positive outcomes and builds trust that allows our participants to have the confidence to count on us. We honour these qualities in our services by strongly incorporating good relationship traits of awareness, empathy, communication, dependability, accountability, and honesty.
Baheduru means ‘support’- It takes courage, faith, and confidence for one (worker) to be patient enough to provide care services for an individual in need of support to help them achieve their goals, especially in the disability sector. We believe this plays a big part in social change and growth when we deliver support services with care, integrity and congeniality that promotes equal opportunity to help build a sense of confidence in people as they cultivate a sense of belonging.
Bahavaraia means ‘success’ – We pride ourselves with the quality of services we provide in caring for our participants and successfully meeting their short and long-term goals. We do this with a holistic approach in considering their physical, emotional, social, and spiritual wellbeing. We promote a culturally safe and appropriate practice standards to our First Nations people and the Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) background people and celebrate with them the small and big wins. However, our services are tailored around a person-centred approach that promotes the client’s best interest, choice, and control on how, where and when they want to achieve the best outcomes through a collaboration effort.
