Meet Anneke

Anneke works as a clinical psychologist in her private practice in Speewah. She has a dual focus on helping people with psychological difficulties and enhancing health and wellbeing.
Anneke has more than 30 years’ experience as a health professional. Completed a Bachelor of Nursing (General and Mental Health) in 1989 in the Netherlands and worked as a clinical mental health nurse in a forensic facility.
Immigrating to Australia in 1993, she continued her career as a registered nurse with Queensland Health. In 1999 she completed her midwifery study at Cairns Hospital and continued as a registered midwife. While working as a midwife Anneke completed a study of Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) and Master of Psychology (Clinical) and continued working the next four years as a private clinical psychologist at Cairns Doctors on Barr St and filling in as a lecturer/tutor for the psychology department at James Cook University. To diversify her practice, she also completed an Equine Assisted Psychotherapy study in early 2020 and an ECO Therapy in 2023.
She opened her own practice “Boonooloo Psychology and Cairns Equine Therapy” in July 2022. The clinic is centred within beautiful surroundings, allowing connection with nature that can further contribute to healing. Her practice involves a wide variety of evidence-based therapies and ECO and Equine Assisted Psychotherapy. Anneke works with a wide variety of services such as Medicare, NDIS, DVA, Workcover and private health insurances.
In addition to being committed to helping individuals, couples and families reducing distress, Anneke also works extensively with people from diverse ethnical backgrounds, including people from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island descent and the LGBTIQ+ community.

Dr. David Harvey is a teacher and a clinical psychologist. He has over 30 years expertise having worked in schools, medical centres and court systems. Currently Dr Harvey carries out assessments and reports for Work Cover, Disability Support Pension Applications via Centralink and Veteran's Affairs. Futhermore, Dr Harvey works closely with clients needing support with Suicide Prevention, and other adults requiring counselling support for a variety of issues.
Katherine Rossi is a qualified and experienced teacher who has worked in schools and early childhood centres. She works with students and adults as an Intervention Therapist providing multi-dimensional strategies pertaining to life skills and the integration of learning skills. The introduction and combination of social and well-being skills, art therapy and identification of other issues, will focus on promoting and integrating learning skills used in formal and informal educational settings. With 15 years of clinical experience, Dane assesses both children and adults.
Dane’s clinical interest lies in supporting people with Autism Spectrum Disorder, and he is trained in the use of the ADOS-2, and the MIGDAS as diagnostic screening tool for Autism. Additionally, he offers various psychometric assessments for ADHD, cognitive and learning disabilities.

Tropical Psychology is a new psychology clinic based in central Cairns. We are a small team of psychologists with extensive experience working with acute, sub-acute and community-based psychology patients.
Tropical Psychology has a clinic in Abbott St and we are also happy to offer TeleHealth appointments if that is the participants' preference. Outreach appointments can be arranged by exception if there are particularly extenuating circumstances.
We accept referrals for all mental health conditions, including complex trauma and Borderline Personality Disorder.

Sarah is a clinical neuropsychologist who has been working for the past 19-years in Cairns.
She provides neuropsychological assessments for adolescents, adults and older adults presenting with a range of issues affecting thinking and memory abilities. These include neurological conditions (e.g. stroke, dementia), brain injury, chronic substance use, neurodevelopmental disorders (e.g. Autism spectrum disorder, genetic disorders), intellectual impairment, and specific learning difficulties (e.g. dyslexia). IQ tests to confirm the presence of an intellectual disability are also done.
She has experience working in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and works hard to provide a culturally safe and respectful neuropsychological service.
