Cairns Early Childhood Development Program (ECDP) provides an educational program and/or service to support referred children from birth until they start prep, who have or are suspected of having significant educational needs and may be diagnosed with an impairment in one the following areas

Autism Spectrum Disorder
Intellectual Impairment
Physical Impairment
Speech Language Impairment
Visual Impairment
Hearing Impairment

Cairns is the only location to have centre-based ECD program and this occurs at  Parramatta State School, Minnie Street, Cairns.

The following have quite regular playgroups during school term – parents stay.

Innisfail has a playgroup on Thursday
Cairns has playgroup on Wednesday (predominantly under 3)
Mareeba has playgroup on Wednesday
Atherton has playgroup on Thursday
Rural and remote services are different depending on location and need of children

I'm a diversational therapist, teaching in the education sector for over 30 years that has worked in disability and now supporting people with disabilities as an allied health assistant
I can follow OT plans, speech plans, I design perceptual motor processing plans and implement them, as well as communication, social skills and personal skills. Usually 1 on 1 with support for parents and families.

Support those with development or learning delays or disabilities.
Develop individual Perceptual Motor Activities/Strategies for participants that assists with hand/eye coordination, kinaesthetic development/strength, spatial awareness and form constancy, orientation and directionality.
Explore bilateral integration by developing individual programmes for crossing the midline, core stability and left/right activities.
Work on communication through oral speaking and listening skills such as strategies to think before we speak, planning our ideas, and practising.
Work with ACD's and continue AUSLAN as well as incorporating visuals and signing into instructions and strategies.
Continue work in diversional therapy for all ages, not just children, as experience also includes the Aged Care sector.
Offer support through counselling skills for those experiencing anxiety, low self esteem or little confidence etc to develop strategies

Business hours are: Monday to Friday 9 - 5 and Saturday 9-12.
Home visits or visits to nominated locations maybe arranged

MyTime is for parents and carers of children with a disability, developmental delay or chronic medical condition. It’s a place for you to unwind and talk about your experiences. It’s a world away from appointments and therapy.

It's support for you. While you attend your group led by a trained facilitator, a play helper will engage your pre-school aged child.

Amy will be working alongside both our speech and occupational therapist. She has a passion in paediatrics, a drive to succeed with a friendly outgoing nature.  She will be both mobile and in clinic from Innisfail - Cardwell

Music, Massage and Mindfulness Classes for 0-5 year olds and their parents.
$150 for 10 weeks - Wednesdays

The Mini Movement classes at The Village Family Centre in Edge Hill on Wednesdays for 0-5 year olds and their parents.

This program combines music, movement, massage and mindfulness in a supportive and nurturing environment. I also offer private music and infant massage classes.
