The Soul Shack – FNQ Occupational Therapy is a registered NDIS provider on the outskirts of Cairns that provides activity-based short-term accommodation / respite care for people with disability.
We run supported five-day group stays once a fortnight. Our stays are open to people of all ages, with support provided at a minimum 1:2 support ratio.
The Soul Shack is a two-acre farm-stay property in Deeral, with a huge tropical atrium (perfect for rainy days), a fruit tree orchard, and a host of beautiful, friendly animals (including miniature horses, donkeys, cows, pigs, chickens, geese, ducks, guinea pigs, cockatiels, cats, and dogs).
We can accommodate up to 24 guests in comfortable, air-conditioned, dorm-style rooms.
Each stay is packed with activities that have been intentionally selected or developed by an Occupational Therapist to work towards improving guests’ functional capacity and independence. The team at The Soul Shack is varied and diverse, and includes an Occupational Therapist, Allied Health Assistants, support workers, students, carers, and people with disability.
We provide an all-in-one immersive group stay situation where people with disability can improve their functional capacity and independence, develop their social skills, make new friends, and take part in all kinds of fun and challenging activities—all in a safe and supportive environment.

I focus on FCA reports only (SIL can be considered) so that I can simplify my service, and thus keep my turnaround times fast. This also means I can provide emergency FCA reports when needed at short notice.
I pride myself on compassion and actively listening to the participant and what it is they really want from their report.
I have extensive knowledge of trauma and how this transpires across many disabilities, and maintain the utmost sensitivity to this when conducting the assessments with the participants.
I pride myself on effective and thorough communication avenues with Support Coordinators, so that all crucial and essential information is delivered. This will ensure the FCA reflects the participant's needs in the most effective way to conform with NDIS requirements, maximising the chances of successful outcomes for the participant.

Cairns Occupational Therapy was established in 1999 by a Cairns local. We provide functional rehabilitation to increase safety and independence at home and work.
We have six experienced OTs to meet your needs. We provide services mostly from our practice in Woree and in home when appropriate. We can provide some services on the Atherton Tablelands when needed.
We have expertise in the following areas:
- Hand, wrist and arm therapy - including splinting- Swelling, scar and lymphoedema management - including prescription of compression garments- Pain management therapy - especially for neuropathic pain and chronic pain
- Rehab following brain injury / stroke / progressive neurological conditions
- Home modifications and assistive equipment prescription and training
- Work rehabilitation services
Some participants’ needs are outside of our scope of practice and we recommend other OTs for these services, unless they are specifically needing services that are within our areas of expertise listed above. Examples of participants who are not in our scope include children with developmental delay, children or adults with Autism / ASD / ADHD / mental health diagnoses / Intellectual Disability / Behavioural management issues, Assessments relating to SIL or SDA and Driving Assessments.

She has significant experience with the adult physical disability space, working in both the public and private systems over the past 18 years. She has experience completing major home modifications, assessing for complex assistive technology and completing reporting for adults with complex needs.
