The Soul Shack – FNQ Occupational Therapy is a registered NDIS provider on the outskirts of Cairns that provides activity-based short-term accommodation / respite care for people with disability.
We run supported five-day group stays once a fortnight. Our stays are open to people of all ages, with support provided at a minimum 1:2 support ratio.
The Soul Shack is a two-acre farm-stay property in Deeral, with a huge tropical atrium (perfect for rainy days), a fruit tree orchard, and a host of beautiful, friendly animals (including miniature horses, donkeys, cows, pigs, chickens, geese, ducks, guinea pigs, cockatiels, cats, and dogs).
We can accommodate up to 24 guests in comfortable, air-conditioned, dorm-style rooms.
Each stay is packed with activities that have been intentionally selected or developed by an Occupational Therapist to work towards improving guests’ functional capacity and independence.
The team at The Soul Shack is varied and diverse, and includes an Occupational Therapist, Allied Health Assistants, support workers, students, carers, and people with disability.

I am an Occupational Therapist with immediate availability for adults and children (over 7 yrs old) Functional Capacity Assessment (FCA) completion. Unbeatable turnaround times due to my bespoke, small caseload. (Always less than 1 week, usually only 1-2 days.)
I specialise in FCA, SIL and ILO report writing and assessment.
I offer 7 days a week appointments to make it easier for Participants and their families to be available for the assessment.
Offering telehealth Australia-wide, and in-person visits within the Cairns area. Cairns area (south as far as Innisfail, up to Mareeba from Cairns, north as far as Mossman). Telehealth FCA for anywhere further than this, or an alternative meeting point can also be arranged. I accept self and plan-managed participants.
I focus on FCA reports only (SIL can be considered) so that I can simplify my service, and thus keep my turnaround times fast. This also means I can provide emergency FCA reports when needed at short notice.
I pride myself on compassion and actively listening to the participant and what it is they really want from their report.
I have extensive knowledge of trauma and how this transpires across many disabilities, and maintain the utmost sensitivity to this when conducting the assessments with the participants.
I pride myself on effective and thorough communication avenues with Support Coordinators, so that all crucial and essential information is delivered.
