We're Kerry and Jason. We are independent support workers and a husband-and-wife team.
Both Cairns locals, Jason born and bred, and Kerry first moved here in 1999, originally from the UK.
We are qualified, experienced and both very passionate about offering the best support we can, which includes quickly building a rapport and trust with a client and their families. We are hard-working, reliable, have a caring and patient nature, strong organisational skills and can confidently think on our feet. We enjoy helping and putting a smile on someone’s face and feel it is an honour to help make a difference in someone else’s life. We are fit and healthy and have been triple vaccinated.
Kerry - As well as being a support worker, for many years I worked as a beauty therapist and massage therapist. I have run my own business as a salon owner and had home-based salon’s. When I began changing careers, I thought I was leaving my beauty days behind me. But I soon realised that having these skills has meant I can add another level of support to my clients. For example, being able to give someone a massage on the days they have physical discomfort, or when feeling anxious or overloaded. This has been hugely beneficial. My interests are healthy food and cooking, theatre, running and hiking, music, reading, crafts, and wellness. I have varied experience so far including acquired brain injuries, progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP), schizophrenia, hearing impaired, intellectual disabilities and dementia.
Jason – Before support work throughout my working life I have always strive to provide excellent service to clients and customers, from an extensive career in hospitality as a chef to running my own commercial surface cleaning business to working in retail and now as a support worker. Some of my hobbies include playing drums and music, cooking, gardening, fishing, outdoor activities such as camping swimming and some hiking. My experience so far has been with mental health, schizophrenia, drug and alcohol abuse, intellectual disabilities and hearing impaired. I also participate in a range of outdoor activities and sports with clients.
